Victor Garber is a Canadian actor and singer renowned for his versatile performances across stage, film, and television. Born on March 16, 1949, in London, Ontario, Canada, Garber began his acting career at the age of nine and later honed his craft at the University of Toronto and HB Studio in New York City. He gained early recognition for his role as Jesus Christ in the 1973 film Godspell, a part he had originated in the 1972 Toronto production. Garber's Broadway career includes notable performances in Sweeney Todd, Noises Off, Lend Me a Tenor, and Arcadia. He received four Tony Award nominations for his work in Deathtrap, Little Me, Lend Me a Tenor, and Damn Yankees. In 2018, he returned to Broadway in the revival of Hello, Dolly! as Horace Vandergelder. In film, Garber is perhaps best known for his portrayal of shipbuilder Thomas Andrews in Titanic (1997). Other significant film roles include appearances in Sleepless in Seattle (1993), The First Wives Club (1996), Milk (2008), and Argo (2012), the latter of which earned him a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Cast in a Motion Picture. On television, Garber gained widespread acclaim for his role as Jack Bristow in the ABC series Alias (2001–2006), earning three consecutive Primetime Emmy Award nominations. He also portrayed Martin Stein / Firestorm in the Arrowverse series The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. Garber's other television credits include Eli Stone, The Orville, and Family Law. In recognition of his contributions to the arts, Garber was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2022. He has been in a long-term relationship with Canadian artist and model Rainer Andreesen since 2000, and they were married in 2015. Garber has also been open about his diagnosis with Type 1 diabetes, which he has managed since the age of 12.
