Viktor Glukhushin

Viktor Vladimirovich Glukhushin, born on March 6, 1976, is a prominent Russian animation director and visual effects artist whose career bridges the worlds of high-tech Hollywood blockbusters and enchanting family animation. He initially built a reputation as a highly skilled visual effects professional, contributing to the technical precision of major international films such as Wanted (2008), Apollo 18 (2011), and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012). This background in VFX significantly influenced his later transition into directing, where he became known for his ability to blend atmospheric visual wonder with emotionally resonant storytelling. Glukhushin gained widespread recognition as a director through his work with the CTB Film Company, starting with his role on the animated series Alisa Knows What to Do! (2013). He solidified his position in the industry by co-directing the 2021 musical fantasy My Sweet Monster (originally titled Buka. My Favorite Monster) and leading the 2022 holiday feature The Nutcracker and the Magic Flute, a modern reimagining of the Tchaikovsky classic. His most recent project, The Myth of Maracuda (2025), further explores his interest in Slavic mythology and coming-of-age folklore, centering on themes of empathy and the tension between tradition and individuality.
