Inspired by Jet Li's "Shaolin Temple," he began training martial arts at a Shaolin Temple in Dengfeng from the age of eight to fourteen. This background influenced his physical roles and discipline.His acting career began unexpectedly when he was discovered as a construction worker in Beijing. He gained initial recognition for his role in Li Yang's independent film "Blind Shaft" (2003), which earned him the Best New Performer award at the 2003 Golden Horse Awards.
