Wang Ju (王菊), also known as Naomi Wang, is a prominent Chinese singer and actress, born on September 1, 1992, in Shanghai, China. Her early life saw her developing a love for dance, which led her to study at the Children's Palace. She later attended Shanghai Normal University, majoring in art education. Before her breakthrough in entertainment, she worked in various fields, including as a primary school teacher, trainer, and even a headhunter and modeling agent for Esee Model Management, where she gained experience in interviewing, client relations, and backstage management during fashion weeks.Wang Ju rose to national fame in 2018 as a contestant on the Chinese reality television show Produce 101. Despite initially being seen as an "outsider" who challenged conventional Chinese beauty standards with her tanned skin, curvier figure, and more assertive style, she quickly garnered a massive and devoted fanbase, including strong support from the LGBTQ+ community and feminists. Her candidness and unique charisma earned her nicknames like "Juyonce" (a portmanteau of Ju and Beyoncé). Although she finished 15th and did not make the final girl group, her impactful presence on the show launched her solo career and established her as an icon challenging traditional aesthetics.Following Produce 101, Wang Ju has released several singles, including her highest-charting hit "Te Quiero" and her first English single "WORK FOR ME." She has also expanded her career into acting, making her film debut in "Ladies in Beijing" (2019) as a main lead. Her acting credits include the 2024 Chinese comedy-drama film Her Story and the upcoming film We Girls (2025). Wang Ju has also been a regular presence on Chinese variety shows, participating in programs like Perfect Restaurant and Day Day Up. Currently, she is reportedly attending the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles, continuing to develop her craft.
