Warren Masemola
Warren Masemola is a highly acclaimed South African actor and voice artist born on May 18, 1983, in Garankuwa, Gauteng. He grew up in Soshanguve and matriculated in 2000 at Tshwane Christian School. Initially passionate about dancing, he studied at Moving Into Dance in Newtown, Johannesburg, for a year before switching to drama. He graduated from the Market Theatre Laboratory in 2004 after two years. Masemola began his acting career in 2008 with a role as Lentswe Mokethi, an art director on the e.tv soap opera Scandal!. He became well-known for versatile roles in TV shows such as Ses'Top La (playing the gay neighbor Thokozani "Thoko" Chanel), Intersexions, 90 Plein Street, The Republic, Queen Sono, and House of Zwide, where he plays Alex Khadzi. He is also noted for strong performances in films like Five Fingers for Marseilles, The Number, Vaya, Eye in the Sky, and the internationally recognized Black Is King by Beyoncé. Warren is a multi-award winner, having received several South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA), including Best Actor for his role as MaFred, a dance group leader in the youth drama Tjovitjo. Known for his intense, challenging roles, he combines his acting talents with skills as a trained dancer and voice artist, performing in multiple languages. Despite often playing villains or tough characters, Warren emphasizes his desire to portray multifaceted roles that inspire and challenge stereotypes.
