Yann Gael is a French-Cameroonian actor born on August 2, 1986, in Garoua, Cameroon. Raised in various French cities, he pursued acting at the prestigious Conservatoire National Supérieur d'Art Dramatique (CNSAD) in Paris and the Cours Florent's Classe Libre. His early career includes notable theater roles, such as portraying the iconic clown Chocolat in Chocolat, Clown at Théâtre des Bouffes-du-Nord . Gael gained prominence in television with his lead role as Mangane in the first African francophone Netflix series, Sakho & Mangane (2019). His performance in the period drama Le Rêve Français (2017) earned him the Best Male Actor Award at the Festival de la Fiction TV de La Rochelle . On the big screen, he featured in Paolo Sorrentino's Loro (2018) and starred in the acclaimed Senegalese action-thriller Saloum (2021) . In 2022, Gael portrayed Jérôme in the Netflix series 1899, a multilingual mystery thriller by the creators of Dark.
