Yim Si-wan

Yim Si-wan (born Im Woong-jae on December 1, 1988), also mononymously known as Siwan, is a highly acclaimed South Korean actor and singer. He initially debuted in 2010 as a member of the K-pop boy group ZE:A and its sub-unit ZE:A Five.Yim Si-wan made a successful transition to acting, achieving an early career breakthrough with his supporting role in the historical drama Moon Embracing the Sun (2012). However, his status as a serious actor was cemented by his roles in the hit film The Attorney (2013) and the cable television series Misaeng: Incomplete Life (2014). For his portrayal of the young, determined office worker Jang Geu-rae in Misaeng, he received widespread critical acclaim and several Best New Actor awards, including at the prestigious Baeksang Arts Awards.Known for his remarkable versatility, he has skillfully tackled diverse roles across film and television. His film work includes the crime thriller The Merciless (2017), which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, the disaster film Emergency Declaration (2022), and the period drama Road to Boston (2023). On the small screen, he has portrayed both endearing leads in dramas like Run On (2020) and deeply unsettling characters, such as the traumatized writer in the psychological thriller Strangers from Hell (2019) and the antagonist in Emergency Declaration.He has recently garnered significant international attention for his casting in the highly anticipated seasons 2 and 3 of the Netflix phenomenon Squid Game, and for his role as the elite hitman "Mantis" in the 2025 film Mantis.
