Yu Shaoqun, born on October 11, 1981, in Wuhan, Hubei, is a Chinese actor who first gained widespread acclaim for his portrayal of a young Mei Lanfang in the 2008 film Forever Enthralled. This breakout role earned him numerous accolades, including the Best New Performer award at the 46th Golden Horse Awards and Best Newcomer at the 3rd Asian Film Awards. A classically trained artist, Yu Shaoqun began studying traditional Chinese opera, including Han opera and Yue opera, at a young age, which has deeply influenced his acting career.
