Fans of high-octane action and barroom brawls, rejoice! A sequel to Road House (2024) is officially in the works, with Jake Gyllenhaal reprising his role as Elwood Dalton. The first film, a remake of the 1989 classic starring Patrick Swayze, was a massive hit on Prime Video, garnering nearly 80 million views in its first eight weeks.

Who’s Behind Road House 2?

The sequel will see a major shift in direction, with Guy Ritchie stepping in to helm the project. Ritchie, known for his kinetic storytelling in films like Sherlock Holmes and The Gentlemen, is expected to bring his signature style to the Road House universe. The screenplay is being penned by Will Beall, whose credits include Bad Boys: Ride or Die and Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.

What Can Fans Expect?

While plot details remain under wraps, the ending of the first film left plenty of room for expansion. Dalton, having left the Florida Keys, is set for a new adventure, opening up exciting possibilities for the sequel. Gyllenhaal himself has teased that the film will be “expansive” and “bigger” than its predecessor.

Will It Be a Streaming Exclusive?

The first Road House was released exclusively on Prime Video, but it remains unclear whether the sequel will follow the same path or receive a theatrical release. Given the success of the original, Amazon MGM Studios may opt for another streaming debut.
