See a Jackie Chan movie. One hour later you’ll want to see it again.
Well maybe not this one. Unless you sat through most of it like I did waiting for the Mandarin to stop and the English to kick in. The product description here is a bit off. The DVD played in Mandarin/English with subtitles. Go into the DVD menu and change to English and the English is dubbed for the Asian actors.Does no one making these movies pay any attention to how much is wrong in them??? Not one of Jackies better movies. But the same could be said for a lot of new movies lately. That is why I wait for the DVD because it is not as big a loss when I walk out on it as opposed to leaving a theater.

An Exercise in Poor Storytelling
As other have said this may be one of Jackie Chan’s worst movies to date.Jackie Chan movies have always had a bit of silliness to them and this one continues the tradition which is perfectly fine with me. The effects are decent and the action is decent, but the story here feels clunky and half missing. It is like they took elements from two separate movies, one set in present day and another set in the future, and smashed them all together. The basic premise is a scientists invents a super soldier serum and the super soldier goes rogue. Jackie Chan, of course, has to stop him. The movie appears to take place in present day with basically all the characters and locations fitting into that style. However the bad guys are running around with technology so advanced they appear to have stepped 100 years out of the future. (Had they actually said this it might have turned this movie into something great.)At first our bad guys are seen driving around in regular cars so you can sort of believe that maybe there is a tech genius behind the organization and the movie will introduce this as a major plot point. However the movie never specifically goes in that direction. Then they introduce the giant futuristic spaceship! The movie has been dubbed into english so maybe something got lost in the translation, but as far as I can tell there is no explanation written into the story as to why the bad guys are so much more advanced than the rest of the planet. Super soldier serum just doesn’t cut it in this scenario.

Impressive, no nonsense-action packed movie!!!
From the opening scene to the very end, Jackie Chan and the cast did not disappoint! So glad they did not drag on the story line and character development. They dove head first into the action and told a complex story that was easy to follow! If you love action movies with great fighting scenes, mixed with sci-fi and some grit, them you will love this movie. Even at his age, Jackie Chan did such an impressive job with all his stunts! So good! I’m definitely going to watch this movie again!

Comic book action
Not quite what I expected. Got a bit over 20m into it and gave up. It’s all action and no story. Action comic style fans might like it. It’s action packed and super high quality, high budget film with lots of killing and explosions. I don’t like those kind of movies, but gave it a look because I generally loved most of Chan’s previous works.

Good concept, but lacking on execution
3.5/5 It seemed like a decent concept, but it just didn’t work out well. There are numerous incidents of things that just don’t make much sense or continuity issues. For example, one person refers to another by their first name except he didn’t know her name. I won’t bring it up except like 2 minutes before he calls her name they make a point of showing he doesn’t know it. Another example is at one point people are beating on glass screen and shooting it with a gun and there isn’t a scratch on it. Then a couple minutes later someone jumps through it. If it was that easy to get through why wouldn’t a gun be able to break it? There are several other issues I won’t go into because of spoilers. The fighting and action is decent. They could have done more with the minor characters. There is set up for a sequel, but I hope they don’t make one.I’d watch it once because it is a Jackie Chan movie, but aside from that I wouldn’t recommend buying it.

My Bleeding Steel
Love the action and pace of the movie. I am a Jackie Chan fan.

Spectacularly, wonderfully, awful and confusing!
Most movies only require about a 2 hour attention span, and little else. Movies like Bleeding Steel require a connoisseur’s approach. Huitlacoche – fungus infected corn that is – might be off-putting at first. But if you know how to tease out it’s treasures, it’s a delicacy beyond reproach. Jackie Chan is still rockin’ it. It would be unreasonable of anyone to expect current Jackie to be as athletic as Jackie from 1986 – that would be just silly. Considering the number of times this legend has been around the sun, he’s the bomb! I still can’t do a tenth of what this beast nearly twice my age can. The story… ahhh, the story. I don’t know where to start. It’s so gloriously incoherent. Darth Maul’s apprentice show’s up, there’s a space ship looking airplane that has no reason to exist – and yet does! His daughter’s doctor’s genetic code and a bionic super heart and immortal regeneration powers and little people in a turban working for a mystic russian-roma-carribean witch lady in the midst of a 90s punk graffiti-laden wrong-side-of-the-tracks of West Side Story kinda way. And Kung Fu. There IS Kung Fu and wire work and the whole bit. This thing is spectacular. Unabashedly and entirely it’s unapologetic self. Nothing makes sense. Explanations given a full 30 minutes after an introduced plot point only confuse the matter further. This decadent faberge egg of a train wreck deserves your attention. And ‘Mystery Science Theatre’ the bejeesus out of it while you’re at it. No film yet made is worthier of it than this one.

Imaginative, if sometimes cheesy movie
I’m gonna say this, this film is very poorly strung together. There are what appear to be some continuity errors, although most of these are just very little things you don’t notice and have to backtrack to realize what happened. The story itself surprised me with how far out it was, and while overall the story was very cheesy on account of many details being poorly written, the sheer charm of it was enough to make it enjoyable. It’s objectively a badly edited movie, but if you can take that and corny is your middle name, this movie is for you.

Jackie Action
If you have ever seen other chinese made Jackie Chan films then this is right there with them, Action, stunts, funny / silly side to fight scenes…. and Australia! Jackie is always filming in the outback! I have read a lot of bad reviews but come on, this is not a Marvel movie by any means and it is not some political statement how western culture is attacking poor innocent little asian girls…??? I don’t know what that guy is smoking but talk about paranoid. Remember “Rumble in The Bronx” from 1995. Similar plot, Jackie fighting bad white guys, defending the asian run corner store, filmed in CANADA. Look at all of Jackie’s movies, most of them he is a kung fu hero that protects the weak and fights bad guys, it’s simple and it is great. Jackie is definitely the last action hero of our time. He has been doing this same magical chemistry since the 70’s! The action and fight choreography is where Jackie’s movies always shine. Yes the fights are fake but they are more “real” than Marvel. The story in all of his movies are good but never anything ground breaking, as goes with the acting. In a marvel movie you have a bunch of excellent actors doing completely fake fights usually just on a green screen touched up by the wondrous hand of Hollywood FX. In a Jackie Chan film you have good actors and a ton of stunt men / theatrical martial artists… who actually do amazing stunts. To put it this way, if we were to take Jackie’s crew and make them fight Marvels stars in real life…it would be sad because our marvel hero’s would be like “Hey hey hey! I am just an actor! Not in the face!” and would run for their lives. Yes there are things that do not make sense in the movie, but it is a sci fi film… you have to take it at face value, it is just entertainment and not meant to be actual science, hence the Fi part meaning FICTION! We could say that about every single marvel movie. A guy gets bit by a radioactive spider and now he has super human spider powers…Seriously? First off a spider would never be radioactive, radiation is extremely deadly…it’s like saying someone threw a spider into a camp fire and it survived! sure… Or Bruce Banner, he gets mad and all of a sudden turns into a giant green hulk. How did he do this???? A failed super soldier science experiment where the scientist, you guessed it! was subjecting himself to gamma radiation. Again with radioactivity is your friend and turns you into a super hero… nah it will give you cancer though. Google the Chernobyl elephant’s foot, most radioactive object on earth. Stand near it for five minutes unprotected and your dead. It’s like standing in a fire pit, a couple seconds and your skin is going to melt and you will soon be a charred bunch of bones, not the human torch (well maybe a short lived human torch). But that is the fun of Science Fiction! It is based in reality but it is a very far stretch that we use our imagination to bridge. This movie has these same mental bridges of imagination your supposed to just go with and enjoy the ride. Don’t overthink this, it is not a documentary. All in all it is a fun ride, some great stunts and laugh out loud moments. I really wish Amazon would have let us pick the Chinese audio and not be forced into the dub. Dubs in any movie make it feel completely cheezy. The dub erases the character of a real actor with usually a B level voice actor, so you end up feeling like your watching a B level movie. I bet Li Sen’s scenes would have been much funnier to hear his actual voice, as well as the little girl… wow her dubbed voice was horrible in some parts. It’s sad because I am sure they are really great actors….just like most of us can agree that Robert Downey Jr is a great actor. But let’s say we dub over his voice with my voice. All of a sudden we lose all the inflection, emotion, talent, years of perfecting his craft, all from just hearing him speak… and we end up with something horrible. Listening to me talk!
