Great start to a series of movies

I enjoyed all the Daoist references as well as Nezha’s appearance. The movie is very long for just being a part 1 but its very well done and visually stunning. It’s not a movie for everyone. Its extremely Wuxia and not typical martial arts drama enjoyed in the west.

    Gorgeous High Quality Movie

I don’t bother to rate movies but this one was too good to skip. I can’t believe I didn’t watch this sooner! Amazing sets, effects, and actors with a nice storyline. I hope this team makes as many movies like this as possible!

A version of The Investitures of God movie

So ever since I saw advertising for this movie, I wanted to see if it would be shown in the US. Unfortunately I couldn’t find any theaters near me that would show this movie. So, I rented this on Amazon Prime instead. This movie is a spinoff of sorts of The Investitures of the Gods movie. Both are in Chinese (Mandarin) and have subtitles available. The Creation of Gods: Kingdom of Storms is part one I suppose, and the ending does leave it open for a second installment. There are some famous actors in this movie which was another reason I wanted to watch it.Here’s my review of the movie/sypnosis:Set in historic China, the story is an epic fantasy/war/Imperial movie. The movie starts off at war with two conflicting rulers who both want power over all. The current King or “emperor” (as China wasn’t yet established as a whole), wants to rule all the neighboring kingdoms. One opposing kingdom fights against him after King Zhou annhiliated all the other kingdoms within the Realm. King Zhou is known to be a true warrior and led his army to fight war after war, conquering nations after nations. While the description of the movie depicts that the king is being led by an evil fox demon, I think we’ll actually see more of this in part two. There are flashbacks of the fox demon, and if you know the history and story of Jiang Jiya, then the fox demon addition makes this movie quite interesting. The acting is pretty decent, and while there are some well known actors, I didn’t feel all the angst, anxiety, and drama as other well known Chinese historical dramas on TV nowadays. The CGI was okay, and you can see some instances where they were “flying” and it felt a bit off. Not the smoothest of wire flying in my opinion. The costumes are spectacular though as I expect historical movies from China should be. The makeup is awesome for the ladies and the scenery is par with what war/kingdom movies should be.Overall, this movie was a fun watch. The Immortal Nezha, which is already famous in history, has flame “wheels” on his feet which was pretty cool and great effects. I really liked the actor that portrayed the young Nezha as he was comical, wise, and loyal. The other Immortals were also pivotal in the overall stories.I suggest you read up a bit about The Investitures of the Gods, Nezha, Jiang Jiya, and Kunlun mountains and its Immortals. The information will tie in well with this specific movie.I’m looking forward to part two, and hope they make it soon.
