    NOT ancient Egypt!

This movie is worth its price just for the many and excellent special effects and the beautiful and gigantic sets, but it’s also entertaining as well. The Egyptian gods are well portrayed although their “animal alter egos” are modern/robotic rather than “real” in look. (One thing I really liked however was that humans were shown as maybe two-thirds the size of the gods, without noticing any “special effects” to make it so! –Interesting idea I don’t remember ever having seen before in any movie!)–Bye the way, if you’re looking for a “re-do” of ancient Egypt in any way, “fuggetaboudit” – ain’t happening! –There IS a Chance Resemblance in the clothing-styles and in the “idea” of the architecture, but no Egyptian — god or human — was ever garbed in such magnificence nor walked (or flew!) in such grandeur!(To me anyway, it all looks so “Science-Fictiony,” all easily worthy of the capital of a galactic empire in its heyday! –But WTH, while distracting in one way, in another way it would allow as being the hangouts of The All-Powerful Gods!)The storyline is based on the theogny of ancient Egypt, with the King of the Gods (Osiris) being tricked and dismembered and the parts tossed and hidden all over creation, leaving the Heir (Horus) and his mother the Queen (Isis) looking everywhere so as to physically restore him in whole, eventually making him King of the Dead, with the Heir then taking his place as King of the Living. –But the movie sorta forgets all that once Osiris is overthrown by his evil brother Set, and has Horus in flight but looking for his All-Seeing Eye which Set had also stolen and hidden. Horus is helped immeasurably but at first somewhat unwillingly by a brave and rambunctious human youth who is hoping the god will restore his girlfriend to life in return — and so off they go, from one adventure to another, until Horus gains his rightful throne!

But DTS-X Is better. And if you happen to own a 3D …

Hello all, who’s wondering about ” Gods Of Egypt ” its 2017. April 26th to be exact. Yes I’m just getting around to watching (GOE). For those of you that are blessed with Man toys. Such as Home Theater ( 5.1 thru 9.2 ) surround sound setup. This Movie is worth every penny (Audio). So far it’s the 1st Blu-Ray movie I’ve brought that’s in DTS-X. I have tons of movies that’s in DTS. But DTS-X Is better. And if you happen to own a 3D 4k tv. The graphics / picture in this movie are out of this world… if you don’t have 3D it’s still a awesome picture in 4k. I can tell you a quick story. I stopped going to the movies a few years ago. I saved up my money. And brought my own Home Theater System. 5 people going to the movies on the weekend can get really expensive. My home theater system was expensive $17,367dollars. But it’s worth it and I’m saving money now, according to what I have on paper. By the way that 17,000 was Over a four-year period. Which included. Polk Audio top of the line 9.2 surround sound setup. With a top of the line Denon A/V receiver (AVR- X700WA) AND 2017 LG OLED TV. When your wife and kids say they are proud of you I think I did a good job bringing Home Theater to our Home. With the Movie… GOD OF EGYPT.IMAX THEATER has a run for its Money

    Surprisingly delightful

I was surprised how much I liked this movie. I don’t know why it took me so long to watch it, considering I have an interest in Egyptology. I think I got this movie confused with the one about Moses and the Pharaoh by Ridley Scott (I did not enjoy that one) so I avoided it for years. Anyway, this movie is fast paced, highly entertaining with booby-trap-in-a-cave action that rivals and surpasses any Indiana Jones movies. It also has lots of CGI (some not that great), and is generally light-hearted which sounds weird since death is a theme in this movie. Nothing heavy here, really. Just a delightful, entertaining, action-packed fantasy film based on the movie makers’ version of Egyptian mythology.

    THE BARE BONES REVIEW

This product arrived quickly Via Amazon prime. The picture quality of this Blu-ray is outstanding. Fine detail is everywhere and colors are gorgeous. There’s so much going on and so much to see in this film that it truly shows what the format is capable of. The audio is crisp and clear. I cannot find a single issue with the presentation of the film. It’s an absolute showpiece.Plot wise, it’s a standard summer movie. There’s tons of action and lots of big set pieces. The acting is decent enough, as is the cast, though Butler definitely steals the show. If you can get it for a reasonable price, you’ll definitely be getting your moneys worth out of this Blu-ray. It’s visually marvelous, and a reasonably fun time.I encountered no issues playing this Blu-ray disc on my 2017 LG model Blu-ray player. No update was required.

Gods of Egypt is a Highly Entertaining Romp and Fun for the Whole Family! 5 stars

I was excited when I saw the previews for this movie on television–that is, until I read all of the negative reviews. The criticism of many ‘professional’ reviewers was enough to convince me to forget about Gods of Egypt when it was out in movie theaters. Several months later, I stumbled upon this title on Amazon. I was pleasantly surprised to see that a vast majority of ‘Amazonian’ reviewers really enjoyed this movie. How could this be since it was almost universally condemned by Hollywood critics??? I decided to rent ‘Gods of Egypt’ for an evening based solely on the customer reviews and form my OWN opinion. It was money well spent. I am happy to relate to any potential viewers that Gods of Egypt truly exceeded my expectations at several levels. I don’t normally review movies, but I also felt compelled to review THIS movie because I believe its ultimate success at the box office was ‘torpedoed’ by jaded and cynical Hollywood critics with their own agenda. Contrary to several other reviewers, I believe this movie had ample diversity—-but apparently not enough for the ‘too many white people’ crowd. In Hollywood ethnic inclusivity and diversity seems to be the ONLY thing that matters in these times–nevermind the quality of the storytelling or the caliber of actors. At the end of the movie does it really matter if Nicolaj Coster Waldau (Horus) is white, black, red, or yellow so long as he was a superb representation of Horus? The actors all did a tremendous job in their respective roles, though I confess it was difficult at times for me to accept that Gerard Butler was the bad guy in this film(even though he was brilliant in this role). For me, Gerard Butler will always be King Leonidas from the movie, ‘300.’ First let me say that this is a rare example of an exotic mythology-based movie that is fun for the entire family–ages 10 and up. Anyone familiar with the lore of the Egyptian Gods would understandably approach this movie with some trepidation since sexuality in Ancient Egypt was very open and untainted by guilt (unlike the modern Judeo-Christian-Muslim traditions). Thankfully, in Gods of Egypt we have a terrific, heartwarming, and kid-friendly story that wastes no time convincing you that once upon a time there was a glorious Egypt in which Gods lived among mortals in near-utopian harmony. These were flawed Gods, of course, being taller in stature than their human subjects and apparently more susceptible to the vices affecting mortals than mortals themselves. The stunning visual imagery in this film was majestic and the CGI effects were impressive to say the very least. The lush, beautiful, and fertile Nile basin created in this Alex Projas enterprise was truly a feast for the senses. One of the strengths of this movie is that the impressive cinematography in no way detracted from the character development or the story itself. This is definitely a feel-good movie with a happy ending–sorry if this is a spoiler of sorts for anyone reading this review! There are many moments of suspense, many moments of laughter, and several moments when tears would be appropriate. This is a very well-rounded film in that I think it possesses something for everyone………..Several moral lessons are learned by the chief protagonist Horus throughout the course of the film: 1).It is always a leaders duty to serve the people nobly and not the people’s duty to serve their leader humbly. 2).TRUE power resides within us all, waiting to bubble to the surface when we need it the most. 3). Pursuing justice is a noble endeavor whereas pursuing vengeance is a fruitless endeavor. Those are my takeaways from this surprisingly enjoyable film. When this movie ended, I was hoping it would continue and for me this is the hallmark of a GOOD movie. Dont listen to or believe the critics! Watch this movie for yourself and decide whether it is a worthwhile investment of your time.

Egyptian Mythology!!!!!! Gods weren’t just in Greece!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This movie was awesome!!!!! In a world where everyone is doing mythology, and everyone instantly goes to Greek. There’s this movie. Yes it does veer away a little bit from the actual legends concerning the Egyptian gods, but for the most part, they played it damn well on point!!! One of my biggest pet pieves about the Mummy movies with Brendan Frashier, is that they set up Anubis as the dark God, when in fact he’s just the God of autopsy. Basically, he’s the M.E. who preformed the autopsy on Osiris when he died, and now he’s one of the underworld gods. He gets a lot of crap because of it, but if you actually read up on mythology, he’s not even one of the lesser evil gods, like Set, not to even mention Apophis, devour of all. In this film, it is made immiediatly clear that the director and script writers really took their time with this one. Putting all the Gods in their proper places, this story basically tells the tale of how Set murdered his brother Osiris with the understanding that he wasn’t fit to rule. While this movie does have a bit of a THORE type theme, with the god who must become worthy and all that, it also does a real bang up job of introducing you to all of the Egyptian Gods who haven’t had much of a presence in coulture these days.Unless you read Rick Riordan like I have. Then you will be yelling at the screen over hundreds of tiny tiny things you now know are wrong, but will absolutely love this movie anyway. There are a lot of special effects, but with the size and scope that most Egyptian monsters had/were, this actually fits in perfectly too. I would recommend this film to anyone.

Termendous 3-D effects and a Throwback Story of Challenging the Gods

Why do B-movies never get any love? If a movie doesn’t make $ 500 million and please the critics, it’s not worth watching?Well, I still like them. Give me a Lone Ranger short (or even the Lone Ranger movie — at least the last ten minutes of it), a bottled water, and some twizzlers and get out of the way of the screen. This was not a great film. It is a Saturday morning B-movie that is fun to munch popcorn to. It has a simple paired down romance (actually it has two such romances). It has unknown actors. It has ancient temples and a mad abandon for history, logic, and mythology. It has Geoffrey Rush as an aged, and persnickety, Creator-god. It has Gerard Butler chewing up scenery. It has giant falcons. With golden blood. It has giant snakes. With sharp, pointy teeth. It has life, and death, and life again. It’s a hot mess. And it’s fun.I can’t defend it on story-telling, but it has vision and terrific special effects. So it was a pretty good 3-D movie and it plays well on the home theatre.

Fabulous, exhilarating movie with lots of fun and informative special features.

I saw “Gods of Egypt” months ago on the SyFy Channel and immediately knew I had to purchase it on 4K Ultra HD / Blu Ray disc. Without a doubt, this has been one of my best movie purchases all year. Not only is it a gold mine of spectacular and breathtaking special effects, but it is also a movie with captivating characters and exciting plot lines.Best of all, are the numerous special features that show in great detail how this amazing movie was put together. Unlike other movie featurettes that are reluctant to show how the special effects were achieved, the special effects directors of “Gods of Egypt” explain how the complex use of pre and post-visualization, blue screens, dual HD cameras, and other high tech equipment were used to create such a visually stunning movie. Finally, there are many fun and candid interviews with the actors in the special features. Gerard Butler (who plays Set) gave the most amusing interviews with his robust, exuberant and sexy manner. It’s all great fun and worth watching. To sum it all up, with this DVD release, you get your money’s worth …. superb movie in eye-popping 4K Ultra HD / Blu Ray, and a wealth of exciting special features. Highly recommended.

HOW TO WRITE THIS REVIEW!!? SUPER VID, that’s a fact!

I will TRY to review this great movie, but whatever I describe, pales in comparison to what I saw on this vid. Because most of it is a “have to see”. And there isn’t much to spoil, because I could write a whole day and not be able to convey the awesomeness of this EPIC story…Did I say, EPIC? Oh yes, I did! I most definitely DID. This is one of those TOP-of-THE-WATCHLIST type vids! This is easily one of the best movies I’ve seen in the last couple of years! It’s an incredible visually spectacular vid. This is quality CGI AND Production Power on a massively tremendous scale! Enough! I think your getting the idea.SHORT SUMMARY: No spoilers if I can help it: TWO BROTHERS the grandchildren of the mightiest EGYPTIAN GOD of them all, RA, The Sun God. The God that drives away the hungry evil of the darkness that tries to swallow the world every night. These special brothers were born to Immortal’s. So, they are Gods as well. They can change their shape in the blink of an eye; turn into huge gold plated war machines that’s indescribable. They can grow in size, and the power of their armored fist and feet sends cities crashing to the earth. Horus is to be the next King and the time to except his crown is at hand. He would make a kind, and genorous King…the children would learn in schools, everyone was important and would prosper, no one would ever hunger again, (but to be totally honest, Horus, does not have the ruthlessness; the cruelty, that is needed to be a king. His one flaw, he loves the humans that his grandfather made. There is another brother: Set. The leader of the mighty Egyptian Army. The Protector. He is fierce. He is fearless. He can not be hurt or killed, and his powers are limitless! He rides the land and protects Egypt from any, or all, whom would dare. Unlike his brother, Set has no pity when it comes to the human race. He scornes them. They’re only worth, in his eyes, is as slaves. The only movies that can stand beside The Gods Of Egypt, are vids like, The Avengers, Bat man, The X Men, or Iron Man , or Thor, or Guardians Of The Galaxy. BUT, this is only a SINGLE movie. Do you think I’m a little over enthusiastic? Okay, here’s what you’ve got: you have Waldau (Jamie Lannister) is the God, Horus. You have Butler (King Loenitis) as the God, Set. Now…does that sound like I’m “just a little over enthusiastic?” Anyway, just when Horus is to take the scepter, Set, decides that He will have the scepter for Himself. He would own Egypt, the whole world! So He betrays His brother, blinds him, then Set takes Horus’ wife AS HIS OWN. Blind and defeated, Horus finds that he must trust some one. Some one He would never, EVER, had believed He would have to ask for help…He has to ask a HUMAN!? NON STOP ACTION. GREAT VID.
