EVIL HIDES IN PLAIN SIGHT.

Up-and-coming British director Adam Randall (iBoy) returns with his new twist-heavy thriller I See You, described by the Hollywood Reporter as a finely crafted exercise in slow-burn suspense . I See You Blu-ray

Behind the seemingly perfect Harper household, Greg (Jon Tenney, True Detective), the lead investigator of a child abduction case, is struggling to come to terms with the recent infidelity of his wife Jackie (Academy Award® winner Helen Hunt, As Good As It Gets). The already strained family harmony is further threatened when Connor (Judah Lewis, The Babysitter), their son, appears to be the victim of a mysterious malevolent presence in their house. As the secrets start to unravel, the plot threads prove to be more interlinked than it would appear at first glance.

Packed with audacious plot twists, beautifully orchestrated narrative flips and an outstanding lead performance by Helen Hunt, I See You is an eerie gem, where nothing is as it seems and the terrible truth behind a family’s dark secrets might just be hiding in plain sight.

    Well Done!

Slow build up, but it’s all well worth it. I can’t say anything more without spoiling, but please trust me on this one.

Suspenseful and twisty Thriller! Reviews trashing HH more disturbing than the premise of the film.

I was looking forward to reading reviews after just watching I SEE YOU. But seriously…I was so disturbed and disheartened to read so many of the reviewers bagging on Helen Hunt’s physical features? With all the misery and horrible things happening in the world right now…trashing her physical features are what stood out to people who are taking the time to write a review? What gives? These comments are far more disturbing than the actual point and premise of the film. Mean-spirited and way out of line…and sexist. No rude comments about the dudes…so yeah…sexist. Did it ever occur to anyone that actors read these reviews? How do you think it will make HH feel when she reads those mean comments about her physical appearance? She is a great actress. I thought her performance matched her character and the situation; an icy, emotionless, numb woman in a loveless marriage who has been caught cheating and now has to overcome the anger and resentment of her son and husband. I am surprised that AMAZON reviews our reviews. before allowing them to post…then allows mean-spirited comments that single out women’s facial features in it’s highlighted key words section. The haters who sit behind their screens and write rude hurtful comments about a person’s appearance..says so much about why women over 40 & 50 have such a difficult time being cast in good films. If they don’t look young enough they lose the role to a younger face (and in this role the character called for a woman around 50) because of the age of her teenage son and husband. If women try to adapt to conform to survive in the industry…they get trashed and called out in public forums like these. Think about your words and how they will affect the person who may read them. Kindness will set you free from your misery.

    Too Many Different Subplots

“I See You” Distributed by Saban Films, 96 Minutes, Rated R, Released December 06, 2019:The “oh, come on” quotient is high indeed in “I See You,” a 2019 chiller from Saban Films that was barely released to movie theaters at the beginning of the 2019 Christmas season and is now streaming on Amazon Prime and a few pay-per-view sites. In “I See You,” a police detective and his psychologist wife are estranged as a result of the wife’s recent infidelity, but still living together in their well-appointed home in an upscale neighborhood. The troubled couple is further distressed when a series of unsolved abductions of young children from years ago seems to be resuming…and all clues point to their teenage son, who’s displaying aggressive tendencies as a result of his parents’ alienation. After a promising beginning, this atmospheric little dud estranges the audience by going off in too many directions–the movie can’t seem to decide whether it wants to be a domestic drama, a horror picture, or both. Very well-photographed, with excellent production values, the movie nicely establishes the sense of tension between the policeman and his wife despite performances which never seem quite natural…although the actors seem to be trying as hard as they can to contribute their best efforts. But at about the halfway point, the filmmakers introduce a new element into the mystery, and then reprise the entire first half of the picture from another perspective. When the narrative resumes, the plot becomes so preposterous, and the characters have become so unsympathetic, that the picture forfeits its logic…and the audience loses its interest. During the final half hour, the movie’s aura of suspense does battle with a competing sense of silliness…and the silliness wins. Worse, the picture’s scare ratio hovers at around zero.Written by Devon Graye and directed in his feature filmmaking debut by Adam Randall, “I See You” loses most of its credibility during the scene in which the estranged couple buries the corpse of a recent victim in the nearby woods as means of covering their son’s tracks. Hey, at least they’re enjoying social activities together again.Starring one-time Academy Award-winning actress Helen Hunt as the errant psychologist wife, “I See You” features performances from John Tenney as her cuckolded police detective husband, Judah Lewis as their son, and Owen Teague and Libe Barer as a pair of trollish teenage home invaders who define the movie’s title. Teague has a nifty career going with roles in quality pictures like 2018’s charming “Every Day,” and 2017’s “It” and its 2019 sequel, and shouldn’t be appearing in junk like this. Helen Hunt’s cosmetic enhancements are also a distraction…before she disappears almost entirely from the picture’s final act.Filmed in Cleveland, Chagrin Falls, and Lakewood, Ohio in June 2017, “I See You” premiered last March at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas and was released briefly to theaters in early December, but was barely promoted or circulated by Saban Films. Despite encouraging critical reviews, the film ended its theatrical run with only $77,668 in box office receipts against a bare-bones budget of $5 million.“I See You” is rated R for violence and language concerns.

One of those movies that’s actually so good, you wonder why it’s on Prime for free

So this was a surprise. I assumed a lot and was way wrong, and pleasantly surprised by the entire film. I’m not going to go into a lot of detail bc you should see it with your own pre-conceived notions…based on the trailer, you’ll make assumptions and speculative guesses…and you’ll see as the movie progresses if you were correct or not. What I will say is the cast was in top form. I’m hoping they aged Helen Hunt to fit her character…really, trying to be nice bc she looks really really bad. Like her face was made of sandpaper, bad. I have to assume it’s character makeup and not that nobody noticed how dry and awful she looked on camera. Maybe it was to give her a distinct look away from whoever that was she played on that tv series I never watched, but I know she’s not old enough to look that bad(hopefully) unless they intentionally aged her. It suited the character though. Gave her a hard, dry edge that fit the plot well. For me, the breakout star was Libe Barer. I hadn’t seen any of her work before….she’s exceptional. With her character, I felt the whole range of emotions, which was a surprise to me because of who she plays. Fabulous work!Sam Trammell of True Blood fame appears in this movie. His introduction was interesting to say the least.Jon Tenney brought some serious acting chops to this piece. It takes a great actor to pull off his character and create layers of genuine emotion.Owen Teague had a strong showing as well. There were layers of “issues” his character carried around, and Teague was able to bring all of them to the camera and really put himself there.Overall though, I have to say Libe Barer just blew me away. Everyone did their best work to make this an absolutely brilliant movie, but she just shone above them all. This girl is super-talented and is going to be huge.Def don’t miss this film! Whatever u think from seeing the trailer, it’s way better, trust me. 4 and a half stars.

    This movie rocks

If you don’t know anything about this movie, then you’re the perfect person to watch this movie. It is truly a movie with two distinct halves, so if you aren’t sure you love it in the first half, PLEASE stick around for the second part. You’ll know when you get there. Perfect for anyone who loves suspense. Trust me, whatever you are thinking this movie is after the first half hour IS NOT what you think it is.

    Very Good Movie

AMAZON PRIME VIDEOThis turned out to be a very good movie, that I found to actually be significantly better the second time through. The reason is the story, while not hard to follow, is somewhat complex, and many details become much more recognizable after the viewer has seen the overall story. And the fact that I wanted to see it again says a lot.Excellent writing. Solid acting. Great directing. Good cinematography.4.5 STARSSPOILER:The only seemingly large plot hole was how the authorities found the trailer in the woods. The girl on the way there was hiding in the vehicle, and on the way back, she was bound up. So how would she know the way? And, she had to convey all of that info to someone else before she died. The only other one that knew of its location was the evil dad. Also, if he was going to kill her, why not do it out in the remote woods at night, instead of bringing her all the way back to his house to do it?

    So-so

Language – F word.Interesting movie with several twists and turns, some logical and some not. I like Helen Hunt. I haven’t seen her in a while, so I was happy to see her name in the blurb. She is a good actress, but this wasn’t her best work IMO. I mean, it was okay, but she seemed to be kind of lost in some of the scenes. But then she wasn’t given a very good part. Jon Tenney did his usual decent job. I sometimes don’t find his characters believable or sympathetic. The cinematography was good but there were holes in the plot and the efforts to patch them up didn’t work. And I didn’t care for the musical score, which occasionally was so loud as to be irritating, especially at the end. I understand that there had to be a lot of night scenes, but it’s not easy for some of us to see what’s happening during those dark scenes, so you probably don’t want to watch this on a small screen unless your eyesight is excellent.

Decent horror/thriller, if you don’t look too closely

In order to be an avid horror fan–and I am, rabidly so–then you have to learn to suspend disbelief. Such is the case here–what saves it is the fun, maybe-that-could-happen, perhaps-that-could-happen, not-sure-that-could-happen-but-it’s entertaining and yeah-riiight…but-good-enough-to-give-it-a-pas final twist. The plot is original, the performances were spot-on–and it’s too bad everybody is focused on her admittedly horrorshow of a face lift, but it is pretty distracting. It’s shame because I liked that she is playing against type. Finally. Even so, the rest of the cast are far better actors and their characters are far more interesting. And here is something that I rarely notice–the soundtrack is pretty amazing. There are times when it seems a bit incongruous, but at least there aren’t any lazy jumpscares with the DUN DUN DUUUUNNNN!Yeah. The ending is a bit much, action movie machine guns that have infinite ammo, 70 year old men swinging midair from a helicopter on to a building, or falling 20 stories and still able to walk away (though they do wince mightily), making an Evel Knieval-worthy jump between a gap in an overpass…with a city bus; all of those heavy-weight worthy fist fights in which not only do they survive, they don’t even break their hands or stagger about from concussion-related double vision, vomiting, etc. And of course, suddenly being a master at any weapon at their disposal, (and there is always one at their disposal) including katanas, specialized machine gun thingys, canons, rocket launchers; being shot directly into the heart and still able to limp-run away (wincing…mightily), and the bad guy who always delivers the obligatory “I’m going to kill you, mock you, because (insert evil deed here)…and I’m going to LIKE it!” speech the length of the Gettysburg address as a means for GOOD GUY to disarm him or faithful Wing Man/Woman to jump out expectantly and still manage to answer bad guy’s speech with the perfect bon mot. .Honestly, even some of the ridiculous horror movies are a lot more realistic than those grunt-man, action warshit theater summer flicks, soooo…if you can buy a typical action movie, then this should be a documentary by comparison.

EXCELLENT!! A crafty, psychological-thriller with more quality twists&turns than you could ask for!

5-StarsNO SPOILERS REVIEW!OK. Not going to lie, I am definitely quite impressed! The more I thought about this film after I watched it, the more the tiny little-nuances of the plot made sense even in the minutiae and details, which is saying something because this is a real jigsaw puzzle of a story at least certainly in its presentation. While it’s no Memento or Inception, this is a REALLY GOOD “who dunnit?” flick with an element of psychological-thrill that’s extremely enjoyable, particularly if you like thinking films or films that make you question and try to figure out the puzzle and put it together. While it may feel at times it belongs to the “horror” genre, take my word that it doesn’t (I actually don’t like “horror” flicks myself). This is definitely thriller, suspense, drama, murder-mystery film.I do think the writers and directors did a great job in this story and its crafting. The way the story is told they give you enough info to entice you to formulate your own theories but not to ever confirm, even till the end because there are continual twists&turns throughout even till the end. I must remark, it is one thing when a movie goes for a twist/turn just for the effect, or tries it but it feels forced. This movie is NOT THAT. The twists genuinely make sense, don’t feel forced, and are brilliant in their effect (in my estimation). So, I was extremely pleasantly surprised with this film. It proved way more compelling, thought-provoking, interesting, and exciting than I would’ve imagined for any random flick that I’d find on Amazon Prime.Bravo to the writers of this on a excellent mystery-story that teases us and strings us along the whole ride! Wow. Been awhile since I had a nice experience like this with a film. Thoroughly engaging and satisfying in equal parts. A great ride.Well done, Well done. Very highly/strongly recommended!
