It’s not winning any Oscars but who cares.

Alright, so let’s get this out of the way. To enjoy this movie you will have to:1. Suspend expectation of realism.2. Not be easily offended.3. Not have high expectations.4. Be in the mood for something mindless. Can you do all of those things? If not, don’t watch this movie. If you’re in the mood for something entirely pop-corny and stupid, go ahead. I knew on the front end this was going to be silly. The previews showed an electrified whip, for God’s sake, and Harry makes a reappearance after being shot in the head. So, if you can’t get over the “that’s so fake” aspect of the movie, don’t watch it. Pierce Brosnan’s James Bond had an invisible car…the difference is they were being serious. I have to think that the actors and directors are in on the joke here.Gentle snowflakes (yes, I’m talking to you on the right-leaning political spectrum as well), if you’re offended by stupid portrayals of stereotypes or the F-word, don’t watch it. Yes, they swear. Yes, you need to get over it. Yes, the American Analogue to the Kingsman takes American Stereotypes and cranks them to 11…I’m American and being in possession of a sense of humor, I just giggled a little bit at the rediculousness of it all. As I’m sure the English did at the notion that an English superspy would prefer an umbrella to a machine gun in the first one. OF COURSE THE BASEBALL IS A GRENADE. Because of course. It’s a sequel, so don’t have high expectations. Why would you? If you do, you haven’t been watching movies very long. Finally, everybody needs a mindless, stupid movie every now and again. If your movie-going experience is left unfulfilled in the absence of a Daniel Day-Lewis method acting extravaganza, and anything short of that deserves a 1 star rating, you should skip this.Personally, I liked that they leaned into the absurdity and blatant unrealistic nature of the whole thing. The Fast and Furious franchise made over a billion dollars doing the same thing. I took off one star because, while the whole thing was silly and stupid, Channing Tatum’s accent needs a little work. If you’re having mindless fun, you might as well do it right.

Don’t listen to the negative reviews

My wife and I enjoyed the first Kingsman movie so we were looking forward to this when it came out, but the reviews were so bad that we didn’t buy it until now…. I have NO idea why all of the haters have trashed this movie. If anything, it is much better than the first one.It obviously isn’t for everyone, it is a big budget, funny, action movie… but it absolutely hits the mark for that genre. The characters are all well acted, the special effects are all top notch and the humor is good (it is adult humor but if you don’t like that go watch a kids movie).Seriously, this is a good movie, not and Oscar winner because of it’s action content, but if you like high-action comedies with great effects, just rent or buy it. I’m glad I finally put aside the fanboy negativity and watched it.I hope this helps give some balance to what I feel is a decent movie… and I hope it helped you decide.

Has a few flaws, and overall it was a fun movie that didn’t match the first film plot wise, but topped it in terms of action

Comic Book Movie Review (8/10) “Great”Kingsman: The Golden CircleDirector: Matthew VaughnStarring: Taron Egerton (Eggsy), Mark Strong (Merlin), Julianne Moore (Poppy), Colin Firth (Harry Hart), Pedro Pascal (Whiskey)Plot: When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, the Kingsman’s journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organization in the US. These two elite secret organizations must band together to defeat a common enemy.Review: I loved the first Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014) and I probably watched that movie a minimum of ten times because it was a great mixture of action, comedy, and all in all a great adaptation of a graphic novel written by Mark Millar. Millar took the time honored tropes of James Bond and turned them on their heads and made a movie that was a parody, but at the same time a movie that itself apart from the other movies in the spy genre with its charm and style. And I probably would give that movie a 8.5~9/10 even now if I were to rate it, so you can guess that I was excited for this movie when I heard it was coming out. Plus the return of Vaughn made me even more excited for the movie as I am a fan of his body of work (i.e. Kingsman: The Secret Service, X-Men: First Class (2011), Kick-Ass (2010)).The Golden Circle is a great movie, that doesn’t reach the heights of the first one, but I had so much fun with it and I want to see Vaughn come back with a third one to complete a trilogy of Kingsman films. The movie starts off with one of the most exciting opening sequences of all time as Eggsy is involved in a car chase that spills from the suburbs to the city streets of London and frenetic action and mayhem ensues. The action is definitely better in this movie than the first one as you get a lot of over the top action scenes that are exciting and well-choreographed. I especially loved the last fight scene with Eggsy teaming up with Harry (yep the trailers show that he is back!) as it seemed like it was one continuous shot. I don’t know how Vaughn did the last action scene all in one take (if it was done in one take), but the choreography was something truly to behold as I thought it was one of the most complex scenes ever captured on film. I also loved all of Whiskey’s (Pedro Pascal) scenes as they did something wild things with his lasso and revolver in his action scenes. And Poppy (Julianne Moore) is one crazy b**** and her character made her a formidable presence on screen because of her insane antics (oh and I thought Poppy Land was one of the coolest ideas of the film). Firth, Strong, Pascal, Moore, and Egerton all give great performances in this movie and each time they were on screen I had a good time.Unfortunately, Halle Berry’s character doesn’t really contribute much to the overall story, and even if she wasn’t included in the movie I don’t think it would have been a great loss. I loved when Tequila (Channing Tatum) and Champagne (Jeff Bridges) were on screen, but they movie didn’t give them a lot of screen time in this movie. I also didn’t completely buy how they brought Harry back in this movie, and I felt that with the method that Harry was brought back in this world gave the franchise less stakes as it seemed anybody that was killed like Harry in the first Kingsman movie could also come back with this method. The Golden Circle has a few flaws, and overall it was a fun movie that didn’t match the first film plot wise, but topped it in terms of action and spectacle.

    A good sequel

This is the 2017 sequel to the 2014 film Kingsman: The Secret Service. At the beginning of the movie, The Kingsman are attacked and information from their computer database is passed along to the head of the world’s largest drug cartel called The Golden Circle, led by Poppy Adams (played by Julianne Moore). Eggsy (Taron Egerton) and Merlin (Mark Strong) end up in America, at the American equivalent of the Kingsman, run out of a Bourbon Whiskey distillery, whose agents are named after beverages like Whiskey, Tequila, Ginger Ale, Jack Daniels, Champagne, etc. The two groups must team up to defeat the Golden Circle and save Elton John (playing himself) who has been kidnapped by Poppy. Like the first movie, this one involves a larger plan that threatens millions of people and is a part of a vast conspiracy. The 4k set is a two-disc set. The UHD disc just has the movie and the regular blu-ray has the movie and the extras that are included. Those include a nearly two-hour-long, five-part making-of documentary, a featurette on the opening car chase, concept art, a stills gallery, and the trailers. So, there is quite a bit there if you like watching the extras. And, the A/V quality of the UHD disc is great, with near-reference-quality audio and video transfers.Chances are, if you liked the first movie, you will probably like this one. It has a very similar tone and style as the first movie. It is very violent but in an over-the-top almost tongue-in-cheek way. There is a ton of action and a bit of humor mixed in. The additions to the cast include Hallie Berry, Pedro Pascal, Channing Tatum, and Jeff Bridges, all of whom do a great job in their roles, as does all of the returning cast. If you are a fan of action movies and do not mind violence, swearing, and some sexual innuendo, then this is worth checking out.

    Overall, a really fun movie

Overall, a really fun movie. I love that it doesn’t take itself too seriously, and the fight scenes are iconic. I’m not sure it’s quite as good as the first one, but it comes pretty close. I definitely recommend seeing it!
