Fails To Meet It’s Goal
This, we are told at the start, in the 1985 movie that made Buzz Lightyear the Action Figure of that year.I’m not convinced. It’s OK as a version of Star Wars/Star Trek/whatever for kids, sort of. It has two young (13? 14?) characters, one of them a girl trying to be her grandmother (a hard act to follow) and the other a boy who is basically comic relief. Also an ex-con on parole, which works out well, as she is the only one of the three who actually knows how to do stuff. Since they aren’t even rookies, Buzz doesn’t want to have anything to do with them. Yet he inevitably must. But that’s not mid-80s. That’s now. It simply isn’t credible as a 1985 film. The story has its interesting points, involving General Relativity, time travel, and a new and different view of Zorg. Not Emperor Zorg, just Zorg.Watch it if you want to. You may like it better than I did, after all!

Great movie
I loved this movie. And I’m sick to death of people complaining that Tim Allen didn’t voice the character and that it shows a family with two moms. It’s a sweet movie about the Space Ranger who inspired the toy and his perseverance and personal sacrifice in trying to correct a mistake he made, as well as learning to accept help when needed. Also has a plot twist on the origin of Zurg which carries a message of it’s own. It’s nothing like Toy Story so if you’re expecting that you will be disappointed. But on its own it is still a nice story. My grandson is a big Toy Story fan, but still loved this movie as well.

Just enjoy life and the awesome that space gives us!
First and foremost this movie was absolutely awesome. It was one of the first movies the whole family was laughing and enjoying all the way through. I have to say part of that was thanks to Sox the cat stole the show but beyond that this was just a well written throughout the story. While there were a few questions overall the characters and the plot were very well thought out. Being a dad and watching everything Disney, while they are all decent, this movie was a step above! Thank you Disney for giving us something different. And finally I have a brain and I vote accordingly and while I have not been happy with some things going on in life recently, I feel if you find issue with sex, race, or other wise in this movie then you better look insider yourself for truth. This movie was AWESOME!

Buzz Kill
This wasn’t one of Pixar’s best efforts. The animation was typically amazing. But the story and pacing was plodding. ‘Lightyear’ was supposed to be the animated film that “inspired” Andy Davis to buy the toy. If that was the case, I have doubts that Andy would have enjoyed this film. “lightyear” lacked any real humor. Though, the story of Buzz was crafted as some ‘Star Wars’ sci-fi drama. What Pixar did keep was its morality tale of the value of friends and teamwork. That trademark of pathos and ethos always holds up. Characters grow and mature emotionally. But the story arc was too long. The trailer was better: tighter, edited, and with David Bowie’s music, really made ‘Lightyear’ something to see. But, none of that was in the final cut. Michale Giacchino’s score was uninspired: it sounded like retreads of Star Trek and other themes he’s written. Was this film for kids? Not really. Unlike Pixar’s last film, “Soul,” “Lightyear” lacked it. The film had little heart, and felt more like a Disney feature. It didn’t have the deft hand of Pete Doctor, though he was executive producer. I wanted to like this film. I didn’t dislike it. I feel rather indifferent. Pixar should get back to featuring stories that they do best. Stories that audiences can relate to. Too much attention was paid to the visual effects. One thing, though. The robot cat was great.

The Best Buzz Yet!
Disney has a way of continuing a movie series until the last dollar is squeezed out of its customers, and the Toy Story Franchise should have stopped after the first one. But this one struck gold! Funny and endearing with the story arc of the cat and explaining itself in the creation of Buzz’s arch-nemesis, Lightyear takes its audience along for the time-changing ride. Not bothered by the vocal difference without Tim Allen, it can easily be chalked up to the character’s “youth.” Ten minutes in, you’re not even thinking of the voice – assuming you can get past your prejudices.Speaking of prejudices, I understand the need to show alternative lifestyles in an effort to normalize them for those who would take offense. But I don’t think these things need to be in nearly every movie or TV series released. This is a kid’s movie – why show marital or sexual relationships at all? Disney could’ve alluded to them without being so overt. Having to explain this to a small child instead of enjoying a well-made movie gets a little tiresome. That said, it’s still a classic that we’ll enjoy for a long time!

Great movie for a family night
We rented this for a family movie night and we all enjoyed the movie. It was super cute, pretty funny, and even pulled at thr heartstrings a bit. The making of the movie was incredible like all Toy Story Movies. And had a lot of the important major/ main characters from the original movie’s. The story line was cute. And I can say even the “older kids” and adults enjoys the movie.
