As a rule, if A24 produces a movie, it’s going to be both unique and you’ll enjoy watching it, no matter the genre. “Love Lies Bleeding” is no exception.Kristen Stewart plays Lou, a lesbian with a rundown gym and a creepy redneck mobster father (played salaciously by the inestimable Ed Harris). Anna Baryshnikov plays Daisy, a drifer bodybuilder who hitchhikes into Lou’s life, and gym, and sets them on a violent collision course with Harris’ Lou Sr. after a tragic mistake with Lou’s brother JJ.There are familiar romantic and mobster flick vibes, but director Rose Glass puts them together in very unique ways. This adds up to one of the most unique and outstanding movies of 2024.
