POOL STORY.

Underrated, old school 80’s style ghost story.
It was a bit drawn out for what it was, and would have been so much better as a story in a 3 story 90 minute film like the classic Creepshow film or something. But it wasn’t as bad as folks seem to think, just cheesy. It reminded me of old horror films from the 80s like Gremlins, that weren’t so much scary as just a bit creepy. It’s just a fun watch with some popcorn and a Coke. It’s not a masterpiece by any measure, but the effects are good at selling the story, and I appreciate the lack of CGI, it adds to the retro charm of it all. Go into it with some snacks, looking forward to a couple “BOO!” moments and an old school ghost story with a message “careful what you wish for” (classic trope done best with the original Money’s Paw story) and a spooky, maybe this story isn’t over sort of ending, you’ll have a great time. Expect another Oscar winner like M3GAN and you’ll be let down, not every film can be the best. This is just a good time and a few laughs with some goofy, oversold scares to boot. Stop expecting every film to fight for an Oscar and just enjoy it for what it is, you’ll be a lot less miserable and jaded. Trust me, I spent way too long figuring that out myself.
