Aziz Ansari
Aziz Ansari is an American actor, comedian, writer, and filmmaker who rose to prominence for his blend of observational and often socially conscious humor. Born February 23, 1983, in Columbia, South Carolina, to Indian immigrant parents, he began his career in stand-up comedy in New York while attending NYU. After co-creating the MTV sketch comedy show Human Giant (2007–2008), he gained widespread recognition for his role as the ambitious and hilariously self-aggrandizing Tom Haverford on the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation (2009–2015). Ansari then co-created, wrote, directed, and starred as Dev Shah in the critically acclaimed Netflix series Master of None (2015–2021), a semi-autobiographical show exploring modern life, race, and romance, which earned him multiple Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe, making him the first Asian American actor to win the latter for acting in a television comedy. He has also released several successful stand-up specials, including Live at Madison Square Garden, and is a New York Times best-selling author for his 2015 book, Modern Romance: An Investigation.
