Bill Fagerbakke

William "Bill" Fagerbakke (born October 4, 1957) is a versatile American actor and voice artist with a career spanning over four decades, marked by two highly popular and contrasting television roles. Born in Fontana, California, Fagerbakke was originally a college football player at the University of Idaho, but a knee injury shifted his focus to theater, where his imposing 6'6" height and warm voice quickly found him success. His mainstream break came in live-action television when he was cast as Michael "Dauber" Dybinski on the hit sitcom Coach (1989–1997). As the amiable but dim-witted assistant football coach, Fagerbakke became a beloved fixture of 90s comedy. Following Coach, he cemented his status as an animation icon, lending his voice to Patrick Star, the lovable, simple-minded, and outrageously funny starfish best friend of SpongeBob SquarePants, a role he has played since the show's 1999 debut across the main series, all three major feature films, and the spin-off series The Patrick Star Show. In addition to his landmark roles, Fagerbakke has a distinguished live-action and voice résumé, including a memorable recurring role as Marvin Eriksen Sr., the kind-hearted father of Marshall, on the sitcom How I Met Your Mother. He also voiced Bulkhead in Transformers: Animated, Broadway in Gargoyles, and appeared as Tom Cullen in the 1994 mini-series adaptation of Stephen King's The Stand. Fagerbakke's ability to convincingly portray both earnest, gentle giants and comically dense characters has made him one of the most recognizable and enduring voices in modern animation.
