Blu del Barrio is an American actor born on September 15, 1997, and is best known for their role as Adira Tal in the television series Star Trek: Discovery. They are the first openly non-binary actor to play a non-binary character in the Star Trek franchise, having come out as non-binary in 2019. Del Barrio is a native of Southern California, growing up in Topanga Canyon. Their background in the performing arts began at age seven, and they later moved to the UK to study at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), graduating in 2019. Their casting in Star Trek: Discovery in 2020 marked their television debut and first major acting role, which they have stated helped them come out publicly. They are skilled in stage combat, dance, and singing, and are bilingual, speaking both Spanish and English. Beyond Star Trek, their credits include the film The Listener (2022) and the upcoming film Trap House, and they also provide the voice of Max in the animated series Max & the Midknights.
