Caleb McLaughlin is an American actor who first achieved widespread international fame for his role as Lucas Sinclair in the wildly popular Netflix science fiction series, Stranger Things (2016–present). Born in 2001, McLaughlin began his professional career on the Broadway stage, where he notably played Young Simba in the musical The Lion King from 2012 to 2014. His breakthrough on Stranger Things led to subsequent major film roles, including his critically acclaimed first lead role as Coltrane "Cole" in the 2020 Western drama Concrete Cowboy, co-starring with Idris Elba. He has since appeared in other films such as the Steven Soderbergh-directed basketball drama High Flying Bird (2019), the biblical comedy The Book of Clarence (2023), and the LeBron James high school story Shooting Stars (2023), where he played Dru Joyce III. In addition to acting, McLaughlin is a vocalist who has released R&B music, and he is a vocal advocate, using his platform to promote positivity and healthy self-esteem through his social media campaigns like #EmbraceYourFace and #BeYourBiggestFan.
