Cameron Monaghan is an American actor and model, born on August 16, 1993, in Santa Monica, California. Raised by his single mother, he began his career as a child model at the age of three and transitioned to acting at seven. His early career included a notable role as Winthrop Paroo in the 2003 television adaptation of The Music Man and a recurring role as Chad in the sitcom Malcolm in the Middle, for which he won a Young Artist Award.Monaghan is perhaps best known for two significant television roles. From 2011 to 2021, he starred as Ian Gallagher in the acclaimed Showtime comedy-drama series Shameless. His portrayal of the complex and troubled character earned him critical praise and a nomination for a Critics' Choice Television Award. He is also widely recognized for his chilling performance as the twin brothers Jerome and Jeremiah Valeska in the DC Comics-based series Gotham, characters who serve as proto-versions of the Joker.In addition to his television work, Monaghan has appeared in numerous films, including Click, Prom, The Giver, and Vampire Academy. He has also gained a new level of fame through his work in video games, providing the voice and motion capture for the lead character, Cal Kestis, in the popular Star Wars Jedi video game series, including Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and its sequel, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. His upcoming projects include the 2025 film TRON: Ares.
