Carolyn Lawrence (born in Baltimore, Maryland, 1967) is an acclaimed American actress and voice artist, best known for her iconic roles in animated television. Initially pursuing a career in dance, she left high school to join the Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago company before transitioning into voice acting. Her career took a major upward turn in 1999 when she was cast in the role that would define her career: the fiercely intelligent, karate-chopping, and perpetually optimistic squirrel Sandy Cheeks in the enduringly popular Nickelodeon series, SpongeBob SquarePants. Lawrence has voiced Sandy across the main series, its spin-offs (Kamp Koral, The Patrick Star Show), and all related feature films, including the upcoming The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants.Beyond Bikini Bottom, Lawrence has voiced other major characters across animated television and video games. She is widely recognized as the voice of Cindy Vortex, the intelligent, competitive rival-turned-friend of the title character in the hit Nickelodeon series The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. She was originally hired only to provide a temporary scratch track for the character but impressed the producers so much they kept her performance.
