She began acting professionally at the age of six, and after an early start with roles like in The Amityville Horror (2005), she achieved a major international breakthrough at 13 as the violent yet endearing young assassin Hit-Girl in the 2010 superhero action-comedy film Kick-Ass, a role she reprised in the 2013 sequel.
