Chris Gauthier (January 27, 1976 – February 23, 2024) was an English-born Canadian character actor known for his numerous roles across film and television, particularly within the sci-fi and fantasy genres. He rose to prominence for his recurring role as Vincent, the beloved café owner, on the Syfy series Eureka, appearing in 67 episodes across the show's run. Gauthier was also widely recognized for playing Captain Hook's first mate, William Smee, in 14 episodes of the ABC fantasy drama Once Upon a Time. His other notable TV credits include the villain Winslow Schott/Toyman in four episodes of Smallville, Ronald Reznick in Supernatural, Phil in A Series of Unfortunate Events, and Malcolm Ross in the miniseries Harper's Island. On the big screen, he appeared in films like 40 Days and 40 Nights, Insomnia, the comic-book adaptation Watchmen (as Seymour), and the horror crossover Freddy vs. Jason (as Shack). Gauthier passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on February 23, 2024, at the age of 48, following a brief, unspecified illness.
