Dean Gerard Winters (born July 20, 1964) is an American actor known for his versatile roles across television and film, often oscillating between dramatic and comedic performances. He was born in New York City and raised on Long Island. Winters gained significant recognition for his portrayal of Ryan O'Reily on the critically acclaimed HBO prison drama Oz (1997-2003). His television career also includes memorable roles such as Johnny Gavin on FX's Rescue Me, Dennis Duffy, Liz Lemon's "Beeper King" boyfriend, on NBC's 30 Rock, and Detective Brian Cassidy in the first season of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, a role he reprised in later seasons.
