Dermot Mulroney is an American actor, director, and musician, born on October 31, 1963, in Alexandria, Virginia. He is the son of Michael Mulroney, a law professor, and Ellen, a regional theater actress. Raised in a musically inclined family, Mulroney developed a passion for the cello at an early age, which has influenced both his personal and professional life. He is also related to actor and screenwriter Kieran Mulroney, his younger brother. Mulroney began his acting career in the 1980s, with notable early roles in films such as Long Gone (1986) and Daddy (1987). His breakout role came in 1997 with the romantic comedy My Best Friend’s Wedding, where he starred alongside Julia Roberts. Despite the film's success, Mulroney humorously noted that his small appearance on the movie's poster led to a year-long unemployment period . Throughout his career, Mulroney has appeared in a diverse array of films and television series.
