Graham Abbey
Graham Abbey (born Graham Robert Thomson Abbey on March 24, 1971, in Toronto, Ontario) is a distinguished Canadian film, television, and stage actor. His career is most deeply rooted in classical theatre, beginning at the Stratford Festival of Canada as a child actor in 1982. He took a break from acting to attend Queen's University, graduating with a political science degree in 1994, before deciding to return to the stage. Since 1997, Abbey has been a prominent and respected figure at the Stratford Festival, performing in over 30 productions and taking on title roles in many Shakespearean works, including Henry V, Macbeth, and a critically acclaimed performance as Iago in Othello.On screen, Abbey is best known for his lead role as Sergeant Gray Jackson on the CBC television drama The Border (2008-2010). His television credits also include recurring and guest roles on popular series such as Degrassi: The Next Generation, Covert Affairs, Murdoch Mysteries, Rookie Blue, and Frontier. In film, he has appeared in projects like Take This Waltz and Casino Jack. Beyond acting, Abbey is a director and a creative force, having founded the Groundling Theatre Company, which won a Dora Award for its production of The Winter's Tale, and previously served as the Artistic Director of the Festival Players of Prince Edward County (now County Stage Company). He is married to Canadian actress Michelle Giroux.
