Hania Rani, born Hanna Raniszewska in 1990 in Gdańsk, Poland, is an award-winning Polish pianist, composer, and singer who has carved a unique space by interweaving classical, jazz, and electronic influences. She received a formal classical training, beginning piano lessons at age seven and later attending the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, followed by postgraduate studies in Berlin, where she began exploring electronic music. Her music is often described as neo-classical, minimalist, and atmospheric, focusing on themes of self, home, and landscape. Rani released her critically acclaimed debut solo album, Esja (2019), a collection of solo piano pieces, which earned her four prestigious Fryderyk Awards in Poland. She expanded her sound to include vocals and subtle electronics with her follow-up album, Home (2020), and released Ghosts in 2023, which featured collaborators like Patrick Watson and Ólafur Arnalds. Associated with the labels Gondwana Records and Deutsche Grammophon, Rani has also composed scores for film and theatre, including the music for the film I Never Cry and the Amazon series The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart. She continues to tour and perform internationally, dividing her time between Warsaw and Berlin.
