Isis Naija Gaston (born January 1, 2000), known professionally as Ice Spice, is a hugely successful American rapper and songwriter who burst onto the mainstream hip-hop scene in the early 2020s. Born and raised in the Bronx, New York City, she began her musical career while attending college, eventually meeting producer RiotUSA who helped define her sound. Ice Spice's breakthrough came with her viral 2022 single, "Munch (Feelin' U)," which quickly gained traction on social media, leading to a record deal with 10K Projects and Capitol Records. Her signature style blends Bronx drill with a distinctively playful, minimalist, and "mumble rap" delivery, often characterized by simple, repetitive, and highly catchy hooks. She followed her initial success with her debut EP, Like..? (2023), which featured hit tracks like "In Ha Mood" and the Nicki Minaj remix of "Princess Diana." Her rapid ascent continued with major collaborations, including "Boy's a Liar Pt. 2" with PinkPantheress, the Grammy-nominated "Barbie World" with Nicki Minaj and Aqua for Barbie The Album, and a high-profile remix of "Karma" with Taylor Swift, which further cemented her status as a global pop culture figure. Ice Spice released her debut studio album, Y2K!, in July 2024, which was met with critical praise for its dynamic sound and unapologetic authenticity. Her numerous accolades include the Rookie of The Year award from Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players, the Impact Award from the BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards, and a win for Best Breakthrough Hip-Hop Artist at the BET Hip-Hop Awards. Beyond music, she is expanding into film, having been cast in a voice role for the upcoming The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants (2025), for which she also released the original song "Big Guy."
