Jason Schwartzman, born on June 26, 1980, in Los Angeles, California, is an American actor and musician from a prominent filmmaking family. He is the son of actress Talia Shire and late producer Jack Schwartzman, and is also the nephew of director Francis Ford Coppola and cousin to Sofia Coppola, Roman Coppola, and Nicolas Cage. His younger brother, Robert Schwartzman, is also an actor and musician.Schwartzman made his film debut at 18 in Wes Anderson's 1998 film Rushmore, a collaboration that continued with him appearing in numerous other Anderson films, including The Darjeeling Limited (which he also co-wrote), Fantastic Mr. Fox, Moonrise Kingdom, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The French Dispatch, and Asteroid City. Beyond his work with Anderson, Schwartzman has appeared in a diverse range of films such as Spun (2003), I Heart Huckabees (2004), Marie Antoinette (2006), Funny People (2009), Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010), Saving Mr. Banks (2013), Big Eyes (2014), Klaus (2019), and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes (2023), where he played Lucretius 'Lucky' Flickerman. He has also lent his voice to animated roles like the Spot in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023) and the upcoming Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.In television, Schwartzman starred in the series Bored to Death (2009-2011) and appeared in the fourth season of Fargo (2020). As a musician, he was the drummer for the rock band Phantom Planet, whose song "California" became the theme for "The O.C." He also has a solo musical project called Coconut Records, under which he has released three albums. He married Brady Cunningham, an art and design director, on July 11, 2009.
