Mountainhead 2025
Mountainhead is a 2025 American satirical comedy-drama television movie that marks the feature film directorial debut of Jesse Armstrong, the creator of the acclaimed series Succession. Armstrong also wrote the screenplay. The plot follows four super-rich tech billionaires—Venis "Ven" Parish (Cory Michael Smith), the owner of a fictional, crisis-causing social media platform called Traam; Randall Garrett (Steve Carell), an older wealth guru; Hugo "Souper" Van Yalk (Jason Schwartzman), who hosts the gathering; and Jeffrey "Jeff" Abredazi (Ramy Youssef), owner of an AI fact-checking company—who gather for a secluded weekend retreat in a lavish Utah mountain mansion, dubbed "Mountainhead." The backdrop to their reunion is a rolling international crisis fueled in part by AI-generated disinformation disseminated via Traam. The reunion is ostensibly to reconnect as friends, but each character has their own ulterior motives for the meeting, leading to growing tensions, power struggles, and even a bungled attempt at murder as they become increasingly combative and discuss using their influence to accelerate the chaos for their own benefit. The film, a product of HBO Films, Project Zeus, and Hot Seat Productions, had a simultaneous release on HBO and Max on May 31, 2025. It has a running time of 109 minutes.
