Jodie Turner-Smith is a British actress and model, born on September 7, 1986, in Peterborough, England. Raised by Jamaican parents, she moved to the United States with her family after her parents divorced, settling in Gaithersburg, Maryland. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2008 with a degree in finance and initially worked in a bank before moving to Los Angeles and pursuing a career in modeling, encouraged by musician Pharrell Williams. Turner-Smith's acting career began in 2013 with a role in the TV series True Blood. She gained wider recognition with her starring role as the titular character in the 2019 film Queen & Slim alongside Daniel Kaluuya, a performance that earned her several award nominations, including two from the Black Reel Awards. Since then, she has taken on a variety of roles in both film and television, including the 2021 series Anne Boleyn, where she played the title role, and the 2024 Apple TV+ series Bad Monkey. Her upcoming projects include the 2025 film TRON: Ares.
