John Patrick Lowrie
John Patrick Lowrie (born June 28, 1952, in Honolulu, Hawaii) is an American voice actor best known for his roles in video games such as the Sniper in Team Fortress 2, and various characters in Dota 2, Half-Life 2, and Left 4 Dead. Raised in Boulder, Colorado, Lowrie initially pursued a music career in his youth as a singer, guitarist, flautist, and trombonist, touring the United States with The Keith-Lowrie Duet. He later transitioned to acting after touring with the musical Show Boat in Europe, where he made his stage debut in Palermo, Italy. He then pursued voice acting, beginning in the early 1990s, becoming widely recognized for his work in Valve Corporation games. Lowrie also plays Sherlock Holmes in the radio drama series The Further Adventures of Sherlock Holmes since 2001, making him part of the longest-running Holmes-Watson team in American radio with Lawrence Albert. Aside from voice acting, he is an author, having published the science fiction novel Dancing with Eternity in 2011, later narrating its audiobook with his wife Ellen McLain, who is also a prominent voice actress. They live in Seattle and collaborate professionally. Lowrie's career combines extensive voice work in video games, radio, and theater, with a significant presence in the gaming community due to his iconic character roles.
