John Sumner

John Sumner (born October 14, 1951, in Blackpool, Lancashire, England), is known for his work in film and television, primarily in New Zealand and Australia. He is 1.78 meters tall, and his career in performing began in 1992, following earlier work in marketing at RCA Records and in home video distribution. His film roles include Herb the cameraman in Peter Jackson's King Kong (2005), the Engineer in District 9 (2009), the Judge in The Rainbow Warrior (1992), and roles in The Frighteners (1996) and Whale Rider (2003). His extensive television work includes the political satire series Spin Doctors, where he played the award-nominated role of Giles Peterson, and appearances in Shortland Street, Stephen King's The Tommyknockers, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, and Xena: Warrior Princess. He has also lent his voice to various shows. Sumner is married and has one daughter and two stepsons.
