King Kong 2005
The film King kong (2005) is Set in 1933 New York during the Great Depression, the film's plot follows Carl Denham, an ambitious and morally bankrupt filmmaker, who hires struggling vaudeville actress Ann Darrow and serious playwright Jack Driscoll for a film shoot. Denham, in debt and fleeing his studio, coerces the cast and crew of the SS Venture, captained by Englehorn, into a clandestine voyage to the uncharted Skull Island, guided by a mysterious map. Upon arrival, the crew is attacked by hostile native inhabitants who kidnap Ann and offer her as a sacrifice to their ape god, Kong, a gigantic prehistoric silverback gorilla. Kong is immediately captivated by Ann, and she slowly forms a unique bond with the powerful but lonely creature. A rescue party, led by Jack and the ship's first mate, Hayes, ventures into the deadly, prehistoric jungle teeming with gigantic insects and dinosaurs like the Vastatosaurus rex. After many crew members are killed in various encounters, including a terrifying stampede and a giant insect pit, Denham, obsessed with his film, devises a plan to capture Kong. Jack eventually finds Ann and they escape Kong's lair, leading the ape into a trap set by the crew who subdue him with chloroform. Denham transports the captured Kong back to New York City to be exhibited as the "Eighth Wonder of the World." During a disastrous Broadway premiere, a distressed Kong breaks free from his chains and rampages through the city, searching for Ann. Kong eventually finds Ann, and in an attempt to protect her and find safety, he climbs to the top of the Empire State Building. Tragically, he is attacked by six biplanes from the U.S. Army Air Corps and, mortally wounded, falls to his death. Carl Denham delivers the film's final, iconic line over Kong's body: "It wasn't the aeroplanes. It was Beauty killed the Beast."
