Josh Lawson is a versatile Australian actor, writer, and director. Born on July 22, 1981, in Brisbane, Queensland, he began his career as a child actor before studying at the National Institute of Dramatic Art. He is known for his work in both Australian and American productions, successfully transitioning between television and film.In the United States, Lawson is perhaps most recognizable for his role as the abrasive and often humorous mercenary Kano in the 2021 film Mortal Kombat and its sequel. He also had a recurring role as Doug Guggenheim on the Showtime series House of Lies and as Tate Staskiewicz in the comedy series Superstore.Beyond acting, Lawson has established himself as a talented writer and director. He wrote and directed the 2014 film The Little Death, which won an Audience Award at the SXSW Film Festival. His other writing and directing credits include the film Long Story Short (2021) and the Academy Award-nominated short film The Eleven O'Clock (2016), for which he was also a producer.
