Joshua "Josh" Mathias O'Connor is an acclaimed English actor, born on May 20, 1990, in Southampton, England, and raised in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. He is the middle son of three boys; his father, John, is a teacher and his mother, Emily, is a midwife. He trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, graduating in 2011. O'Connor had his breakthrough in 2017 when he starred as the lead, a closeted sheep farmer named Johnny Saxby, in Francis Lee's romantic drama "God's Own Country," a role for which he won the British Independent Film Award (BIFA) for Best Actor. He achieved global recognition for his portrayal of a young Prince Charles in the third and fourth seasons of the Netflix series "The Crown" (2019-2020), a performance that earned him the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Television Series Drama in 2021.
