Kevin Tighe is a prolific American actor known for his work in television, film, and theater since the late 1960s. Born Jon Kevin Fishburn in Los Angeles on August 13, 1944, he began acting at a young age. After graduating from high school, he earned a Master of Fine Arts in acting from the University of Southern California in 1967. His career took off when he landed the role of paramedic Roy DeSoto on the popular NBC series Emergency!, which aired from 1972 to 1977. This role made him a household name and defined a significant part of his early career.Following Emergency!, Tighe shifted his focus to a variety of character roles, earning critical acclaim for his performances in both film and television. His notable film credits include the historical dramas Matewan (1987) and Eight Men Out (1988), the action film Road House (1989), and the acclaimed What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993), in which he played the role of Ken Carver. He also won a Genie Award for Best Supporting Actor for his work in the 1993 Canadian thriller I Love a Man in Uniform.Tighe's extensive television career includes numerous guest appearances and recurring roles. He is well-known to a new generation of viewers for his role as Anthony Cooper, the manipulative father of John Locke, on the popular ABC series Lost. His other television credits include The West Wing, Freaks and Geeks, and the miniseries In Cold Blood.
