Christopher Catesby Harington, widely known as Kit Harington, is an English actor, producer, and writer best recognized globally for his iconic role as Jon Snow in the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones (2011–2019), which earned him a Golden Globe nomination and two Primetime Emmy nominations. Born in London on December 26, 1986, Harington's full name was shortened to "Kit" early on, a name he preferred and didn't realize was a nickname until he was eleven. He graduated from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in 2008 and initially found success on the stage, making his professional debut in the critically acclaimed National Theatre adaptation of War Horse (2009).His film career includes roles such as the lead, Milo, in the historical disaster film Pompeii (2014), Roland Leighton in the period drama Testament of Youth (2014), and Dane Whitman in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Eternals (2021).
