The Family Plan 2 (2025)

Directed by Simon Cellan Jones, this action-comedy sequel relocates the chaos from a family road trip to a European holiday adventure. The story picks up two years after the original, with former assassin Dan Morgan and his wife Jessica planning a perfect Christmas vacation in London and Paris to visit their daughter Nina, who is studying abroad. Their festive plans are quickly derailed when Dan’s past catches up with him yet again—this time in the form of Finn Clarke, a "gnarly" and sophisticated villain who reveals a shocking familial connection to Dan. The family is forced to flee across iconic European landmarks, engaging in car chases through Montmartre and fight scenes on double-decker buses, all while trying to keep their holiday spirit alive. Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Monaghan reprise their roles as the parents Dan and Jessica, with Zoe Colletti and Van Crosby returning as the kids. Kit Harington (Game of Thrones) joins the cast as the antagonist Finn, alongside Reda Elazouar as Nina's boyfriend, Omar. The sequel has received a largely negative critical reception, similar to its predecessor. Critics have panned the film for being "formulaic" and "predictable," often citing that it relies too heavily on generic action tropes and lacks the freshness of the first film's premise. It currently holds a "Rotten" score on review aggregators (hovering around 15–20%), with reviews describing it as a "ho-hum" cash grab that offers little beyond mild distraction. However, despite the critical drubbing, audience reception has been warmer, with viewers praising the chemistry between Wahlberg and Monaghan and the fun, lower-stakes energy that makes it an easy watch for families. The Family Plan 2 was released exclusively on Apple TV+ on November 21, 2025. Because it bypassed theaters, there are no box office gross figures. However, it was an immediate streaming success, debuting at the #1 spot on Apple TV+’s global charts over its opening weekend, replicating the high viewership numbers of the first movie. It is currently available to stream worldwide for all Apple TV+ subscribers.
