Simon Cellan Jones

Simon Cellan Jones is a British television and film director who was born in January 1963 and is known for his extensive work in British television before transitioning to feature films. He began his career in the mid-1980s as a production assistant, eventually working his way up to a director role by the late 1980s. His notable television credits from the 1990s include episodes of acclaimed British productions such as Cracker (1993) and Our Friends in the North (1996), and he has also directed episodes for major international series like HBO's Generation Kill, Boardwalk Empire, and Treme, as well as Years and Years and The Diplomat. Cellan Jones made his feature film debut with Some Voices (2000), for which he was nominated as the Best Newcomer at the British Academy Film Awards. His other feature film work includes the romantic comedy The One and Only (2002), and more recently, the adventure film Arthur the King (2024), and the action-comedy The Family Plan (2023), both starring Mark Wahlberg. He is also returning to direct the sequel, The Family Plan 2 (2025). Simon Cellan Jones is the son of fellow director and producer James Cellan Jones.
