Lily Collins is an English and American actress, model, and writer, known for her diverse roles across film and television. Born Lily Jane Collins on March 18, 1989, in Guildford, Surrey, England, she is the daughter of legendary musician Phil Collins and his second wife, Jill Tavelman. She began acting at the age of two and, after moving to Los Angeles as a child, also pursued a career in journalism as a teenager, writing for publications like Teen Vogue and Elle Girl. Her breakthrough film role came in the sports drama The Blind Side (2009). Collins subsequently starred in a number of notable films, including the fantasy Mirror Mirror (2012) as Snow White, the romantic comedy Love, Rosie (2014), and earned her first Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for Warren Beatty's Rules Don't Apply (2016). She gained critical acclaim for her performance in the Netflix drama To the Bone (2017), where she portrayed a young woman with anorexia, a struggle she has openly discussed. Her recent prominent roles include Fantine in the BBC miniseries Les Misérables (2018–2019), and playing the lead role of Emily Cooper and serving as a producer in the hit Netflix series Emily in Paris (2020–present), which earned her a second Golden Globe nomination. A published author, Collins released her memoir "Unfiltered: No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me" in 2017. She married American writer and director Charlie McDowell in 2021.
