Lise Baastrup Nielsen is a highly regarded Danish actress, born on March 20, 1984, in Silkeborg, Denmark. She is best known internationally for her memorable and beloved role as the naive but kind-hearted teacher Hjørdis in the popular Danish comedy-drama series Rita (2012–2020), which is available on Netflix. Her portrayal of the character was so successful that she starred in a spin-off mini-series titled Hjørdis (2015), which focused entirely on her character's efforts to stage a school play about bullying. Baastrup is a graduate of the Acting School at Aarhus Theatre in 2010. Following her theatrical training and professional roles at Aalborg Teater, she transitioned successfully into television and film. Besides her work on Rita, her notable credits include roles in the Danish series The Orchestra (2022) and early TV work like Lykke (2011). In film, she has appeared in movies like Kapgang (Speed Walking, 2014) and Rosita (2015).
