Madelaine Petsch, born Madelaine Grobbelaar Petsch on August 18, 1994 in Port Orchard, Washington, is an American–South African actress and former YouTuber. Raised partly in South Africa by her parents, Timothy and Michele Petsch, she began dance lessons at age three and theatre classes by five, later attending Tacoma School of the Arts before moving to Los Angeles at eighteen to pursue acting. Petsch rose to prominence portraying Cheryl Blossom on CW’s Riverdale from 2017 to 2023, earning her Teen Choice and MTV Movie & TV awards. She has since made her mark in horror and thriller films, starring in Polaroid (2019), Sightless (2020, co‑producer), Jane (2022, also producer), and leading the cast in The Strangers Trilogy as Maya. Beyond acting, Petsch is known for her vegan lifestyle, animal rights advocacy, and health-conscious regimen. She launched a sunglasses line with Privé Revaux in 2018 and ran a popular YouTube channel (2017–2023) to share her authentic self.
