Mahsa Rostami
Mahsa Rostami is an Iranian actress, who has gained international recognition for her powerful performance in Mohammad Rasoulof's 2024 film, "The Seed of the Sacred Fig." In the film, Rostami plays Rezvan, one of the two daughters of a newly appointed investigating judge whose family dynamic unravels amidst political unrest in Tehran. Her character, along with her on-screen sister Sana (played by Setareh Maleki), represents the younger generation impacted by the authoritarian regime. Due to the sensitive and politically charged nature of "The Seed of the Sacred Fig," which was filmed in secret and critically depicts the Iranian government, Mahsa Rostami, along with other cast members like Setareh Maleki and Niousha Akhshi, was compelled to flee Iran and is now living in exile in Berlin. Her work in "The Seed of the Sacred Fig," which won the Special Jury Prize at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, has brought her significant international attention and a platform to address the political climate in her home country.
