Marilú Marini

Marilú Marini (María Lucía Marini), born on June 15, 1940 (some sources say 1945), in Mar del Plata, Argentina, is a highly decorated Argentine actress, dancer, choreographer, and director with a significant career in both her native country and France, where she has resided since 1970. She began her career in contemporary dance in Buenos Aires, studying with masters like Renate Schottelius and working at the progressive Instituto Torcuato Di Tella where she co-created works like Danse Bouquet. After moving to Paris, she became a prominent figure in French theatre, notably as the muse of the director Alfredo Arias in his group TSE, and gained recognition for her roles in the sulphurous plays of Copi, including La Femme assise which earned her the Prix de la Meilleure Comédienne in 1984. On screen, she is known for her roles in films such as Lost Embrace and frequently collaborates with French filmmaker Claire Denis. For her extensive work, she was honored by the French government with the distinction of Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters and received the Diamond Konex Award in 2021 as the most important person in Entertainment in the last decade in Argentina.
