Michael Imperioli
Michael Imperioli is an American actor, writer, director, and musician, born James Michael Imperioli on March 26, 1966, in Mount Vernon, New York, to a family of amateur actors of Italian American heritage. He began his career in the New York independent film scene in the 1990s, notable for his breakout role as Spider in Martin Scorsese's 'Goodfellas' (1990) and his frequent collaborations with director Spike Lee, including co-writing 'Summer of Sam' (1999). Imperioli's most iconic role is undoubtedly Christopher Moltisanti in the HBO crime drama 'The Sopranos' (1999–2007), for which he won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2004, having also penned five episodes of the show. After The Sopranos, he starred in police dramas like Life on Mars and Detroit 1-8-7, and later earned another Emmy nomination for his role as Dominic Di Grasso in the second season of 'The White Lotus' (2022). Beyond acting, he has directed the feature film The Hungry Ghosts, is a New York Times Best Selling Author for the non-fiction Woke Up This Morning (co-written with Steve Schirripa), and hosts the popular Talking Sopranos podcast. He is also the vocalist and guitarist for the rock band Zopa and, in his personal life, is a student of Buddhism. He is married to Victoria Chlebowski, with whom he has three children, and together they co-founded the Off-Broadway theater company, Studio Dante. He was recently seen on Broadway in An Enemy of the People.
