Niousha Akhshi

Niousha Akhshi is an Iranian actress known for her roles in films such as "The Seed of the Sacred Fig" (2024), "The Lion Skin" (2022), and "Bone Marrow" (2020). Her most prominent recent work is in Mohammad Rasoulof's "The Seed of the Sacred Fig," a film that critically examines the Iranian government amidst widespread protests. In the film, Akhshi plays a friend of the main characters who is tragically blinded by a police shot. The filming of "The Seed of the Sacred Fig" was conducted in secret within Iran, and due to the film's politically charged content and the risks associated with her participation (including appearing without a headscarf on screen), Niousha Akhshi, along with co-stars Mahsa Rostami and Setareh Maleki, was compelled to flee Iran and is now living in exile in Berlin. Her performance in the film, which was highly acclaimed at the Cannes Film Festival, has brought her international recognition and a platform to speak about the political situation in her home country.
