Oleh Yuriyovych Mykhailiuta, widely known by his stage name Fahot (meaning "Bassoon"), born on March 27, 1974, in Kharkiv, is a towering figure in the Ukrainian music scene and a prolific voice actor. He is most famous as the co-frontman of the legendary hip-hop and crossover band Tanok na Maidani Kongo (TNMK), which he joined in the mid-1990s and helped lead to national prominence with their unique blend of rap, rock, and jazz. A classically trained musician who studied at the Kharkiv Conservatory, Mykhailiuta’s deep, gravelly voice and charismatic stage presence have made him a cultural icon. Beyond music, he has established himself as a premier dubbing artist in Ukraine, famously providing the Ukrainian voices for major Hollywood characters such as Maui in Disney’s Moana, Nico in Rio, and even Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. In the 2023 international success Mavka: The Forest Song, Mykhailiuta voiced the character of Uncle Leo, Lukas’s elderly and ill uncle whose survival depends on the magical cures hidden within the enchanted forest. His performance added a layer of human vulnerability and emotional stakes to the film, as his character’s condition is the primary motivation for Lukas's risky journey into the forbidden woods. Since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine began, Mykhailiuta has balanced his artistic career with military and volunteer service, joining the territorial defense forces in Kyiv while continuing to perform charity concerts worldwide to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces. As of 2025, he remains a central figure in the "Your Verses, My Notes" cultural project alongside Artem Pyvovarov, continuing to modernize Ukrainian literary traditions for a new generation.
